Here we can step back, push aside our scope and sequence and take the opportunity and the time to respond to student interests and change the curriculum.
Every child is involved and that gives them the opportunity to try things whether it’s arts or athletics. Here everybody is encouraged to try and it’s always amazing when somebody says: “I didn’t know I could do this” ; “I didn’t know I liked ceramics”;
There's a lot of banter out there about educating the whole child but I think independent schools really do it well. There's an emphasis on social development, athletic development, artistic development.
“It’s almost like the school is another home, a personal space you have outside of your home.”
