Are you standing apart or stacking up?
Feeling the pressure to outTHING your competitor schools? Newer facilities? Better programs? More committed teachers? More well-rounded students? More academically excellent? Set aside the pressure and take a thoughtful pause with Patti Crane, founder and president of Crane MetaMarketing, to stop and THINK again. Remember: Your school is more than a place, more than a program, more than a thing. It’s the unique expression of a meaningful idea. And in today’s competitive atmosphere, your marketing can and must be, too. Return to your work equipped with the tools to help you and your staff replace “more,” “newer,” “better” with “the one and only.”

Workshop Leader: Patti Crane
Vision:
Patti sees past the expected horizon and arrives at solutions that turn conventional approaches on their head.
Transformation:
From the start, Patti believed that only metanoia—a shift in mind—resulted in the transformative change that institutions sought.
Possibility:
Where some see roadblocks to bypass, Patti sees opportunities to confront directly.
Patti started her career as an education and arts marketer, and soon realized that mission-driven institutions deserved more than the standard treatment. Having successfully marketed hundreds of colleges and universities across the country, Patti arrived at the term metamarketing, a reflective and action-oriented approach that enables clients to think newly about their institution, paving the way to healthier internal alignment, external fluency, and revenue-enhancing practices. Now in its sixteenth year, CRANE has helped hundreds more nonprofits—from independent schools and colleges and universities to religious denominations, state bars, and civil justice foundations—articulate their Category of One, reach best-fit audiences, and plot their course to sustained future success. In many ways, the idea of redefinition has been the driving force behind Patti’s entire career. At almost every turn, Patti saw dissonance between the status quo of educational marketing and fundraising and a much better, much more transformative approach. Nearly 20 years would unfold between those early revelations and the founding of Crane MetaMarketing in 1996, but Patti never stopped learning, never stopped pushing the envelope, and never stopped questioning the established way of doing something in search of a more effective, more efficient, more visionary process.
