iPads For Teachers: Content and Pedagogy

This workshop is designed for teachers who are currently using (or who will soon be using) iPads in their classrooms. Spend the day learning about how this tool can revolutionize your classroom and your work. There will be a focus on both general use apps as well as more discipline-specific apps.
Specific topics include:
-Basic care, apps and the app store, pass-code lock, and gestures
-Organization, calendar, email, gradebook, task management
-General teaching strategies such as projecting, white board, jigsaw teaching, video, iBooks, flashcards, notes, notebook checks, paperless classrooms
-Department-specific topics (apps by discipline, content creation)
Schedule for the Day:
8:45 am- 9:30 am Registration
9:30 am - 10:30 am Organization, task management, usage
10:30 am- Noon Teaching strategies, resources, tools
Noon - 1:00 pm Lunch
1 pm - 1:45 pm Unconference Session 1
1:45 pm - 2:30 pm Unconference Session 2
2:30 - 3:00 pm Evaluating and Finding Apps, Closing Comments
What is an unconference? An unconference is a participant-driven meeting where the content and focus is determined by the attendees. Unconferences provide opportunities for participants to share their ideas, learn from others, and develop a collaborative network of peers. Anyone can host a session without needing to prepare anything in advance. You can also suggest a topic for a session. Sessions will be determined during the conference. Please come prepared to share!
About the presenter:
Hans Mundahl is the Director of Technology Integration at New Hampton School, and the founder of HansMundahl.com, a digital strategy consultancy for schools and non-profits. At New Hampton School, Hans coordinates the 1:1 iPad program, runs the web site, and teaches a class on live web broadcasting. His writing appears on EdSocialMedia.com and he is a frequent speaker at technology and education conferences.
