My Contribution I sat in a room recently where a white man told a black man he was angry “when you got the promotion I believe I deserved. You have less time in grade and less experience, though you can certainly do the job. So, I’ve been sitting back, refusing to support you, waiting for you to fail. Now I understand the meaning or racism in your life.” I’m still angry, he continued, “but I understand that the soul of the nation is at stake. From today on you have my support. I can’t change the racism in our society, but I will do what I can to help you succeed. That’s my contribution to helping things change. – Bryant Rollins
