Being Oblivious
Why are whites so dim about the division between the races? What forces, what processes, lulled White America into assuming that blacks and whites were ever on the same page? … The country is keen on historical romance, impatient with historical fact, weak on the realities that uniquely characterize the African-American past. … What whites need to do is stop being amazed at their own obliviousness and start being repelled by it …

Information for Families

Come to the Private School Fair sponsored by the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE) to consider private school options for September '10 and get a head start on the school search process for the 11-12 school year.

Let AISNE’s School Fair be your gateway to the universe of independent schools, giving you the opportunity to make contact with, and gather information from, a wide variety of schools, including elementary and secondary schools, day schools and boarding schools, and single-sex and coed schools.

All AISNE schools are fully accredited and, while each has its own unique mission, every AISNE school prides itself on providing a secure, supportive, challenging, close-knit community, with small classes and lots of individual attention. For more about what makes our schools special, see the links below.

Information for Schools

The goal of the Fair is to provide families and students with exposure to, and information about, independent school options well before application deadlines. This may also be of interest to families starting to think about the ‘11 -‘12 school year. We invite day schools and boarding schools to participate. The Westin Hotel in Waltham is a very attractive site and its location is convenient to all of the Boston area (day schools near and beyond 495 may not find this a useful venue). We will advertise widely, in print, radio, and on our web site.

We will include the names of schools attending on our web site and in some of the print ads, if at all possible. I encourage you, then, if you’re going to attend, to sign up right away. Registration includes the classic six-foot table and chairs. Set-up begins at noon. Buffet lunch provided for school folks. The Fair begins at 1:00 P.M. and ends at 3:30 P.M. We will open for set up at 11:30 A.M. Each school can bring up to 3 people, no more.
