Shady Hill School is a coeducational day school enrolling students in Pre-K (age 4) through Grade 8. Our village-style campus is a collection of small buildings set around courtyards and greens. We are in Cambridge, near Belmont and Watertown, and within walking distance of Harvard Square. With a diverse student and teacher population, we foster a safe learning environment where children feel comfortable taking risks as joyful, active learners. Our unique Central Subject curriculum promotes learning through cooperation and collaboration and encourages children to be independent thinkers.

What's Happening In Our School?

05/22/2017 -- FROM FACEBOOK

The Gold Gym was buzzing last week as performers took the stage for the recent Community Time Music Share. From orchestras to jazz bands to choruses, students showcased their impressive musical talents for the whole school. The Silver Orchestra opened with Pink Martini’s Donde Estas, Yolanda? and Jacques Offenbach’s Infernal Galop (i.e., the Can Can). The Gold Orchestra played Dance of the Blessed Spirits by Christoph Gluck and a medley from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story. The Gold Chorus sang the Beatles’ Blackbird and How Far I'll Go from the film Moana. The Silver Jazz Band performed two numbers—Blue Bossa by Kenny Dorham and Hip Hugger by Booker T, and Gold Jazz Band wrapped up the show with Rodgers/Hart’s Blue Moon and Feelin' Good by Bricusse/Newley. Bravo to all musicians! “Everyone’s back,” shouted a seventh grader. Smiles, waves, and hugs were everywhere. Not even a hurricane could dim the enthusiasm.
