August Scholars is a three-week, tuition-free, academic summer program for children from lower-income families in Boston who need summertime academic support to avoid serious learning loss. 

The program dates are Monday, July 9th to Friday, August 3rd (includes a training week) and is hosted at The Learning Project Elementary School in Back Bay.  See link below for more information.

Newton Montessori School is seeking a dynamic, experienced middle school teacher who is excited by the opportunity to launch an innovative new program for Grades 7-8. NMS is an independent school with a current enrollment of 226 in toddler through Grade 6 programs.

You will be the primary teacher for a mixed age Grade 7-8 classroom, working with part-time specialists. Initial cohort will be quite small; we are looking for an educational leader who can help us grow enrollment by inspiring students, establishing credibility with parents, and helping to build off-campus partnerships that will provide new learning opportunities for students. In addition to a genuine love of working with middle school students, this position requires grades 7-8 teaching experience; deep knowledge of child development (ages 11-15); ability to collaborate in designing engaging and developmentally appropriate curriculum; and strong writing, public speaking, and technology skills. Experience in or knowledge of Responsive Classroom, Understanding by Design, executive function skills, interdisciplinary teaching and project based learning are key assets. Willingness to pursue Montessori certification for this age group required.
