Job Summary - The Assistant Director for the Hyde Center for Global Education will provide additional support and leadership in the continued development of a comprehensive global education program at Boston College High School.  This position will be the primary liaison between the Hyde Center and the faculty for all global education related opportunities and initiatives. 

Summary of essential job functions:

  • Collaborating with faculty to advance the on-going initiative of infusing global material into BC High’s current curriculum
  • Engage faculty to establish and monitor curricular goals
  • Develop a re-entry program for students who have traveled abroad that helps them process and reflect upon their experience, as well as share their experience with other students
  • Assisting with the management of the BC High experience for visiting groups; including ways to integrate visiting students into daily BC High life and managing half the visiting groups to BC High throughout the year
  • Manage the Hyde Scholars program; a program designed to support and recognize students who have chosen a global “path” at BC High
  • Advancing programs that support conversational foreign language skills; in particular, manage the Peretti Scholars program for conversational Spanish by collaborating with the Modern Language Department
  • Establish external virtual partnerships between domestic and international Jesuit schools through Educate Magis.
  • Develop curricular framework and support for discipline-specific programs abroad
  • Duties as assigned by Vice-President for Global Mission and Identity

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Master’s Degree (equivalent life experience programs may be considered)
  • Teaching experience or other relevant experience working in educational settings
  • Experience living abroad or significant immersion experiences
  • Fluency in a second language; Spanish preferred
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel abroad if needed
  • Ability and willingness to lead off campus excursions and programs
