Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12, on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton is seeking a full-time counselor for Health and Counseling Center in the Upper School for sabbatical coverage during the 2019-2020 academic year. Candidates must be able to fulfill on-call duties which are typically 1x/week and 1 weekend/month.
Minimum requirements include an advanced degree in social work or clinical psychology (LICSW, LMHC, PsyD or PhD preferred) and a valid Massachusetts license to practice therapy.
Candidates must have experience providing individual therapy to adolescents. In addition to individual therapy sessions with students, each counselor oversees specific programs (such as Peer Discussion Groups or Human Sexuality and Relationships) and teaches in the affective education program. Counselors meet weekly in group supervision with the counseling staff and meet weekly with the psychiatric consultant.
Ability to work closely and collaboratively in a diverse community with the Health Center team and with students, parents, administrators and faculty is essential. This position requires high energy, enthusiasm and optimism about children and adolescents.
