Position Overview

The Dean of Students will provide visionary direction for student and community life at Miss Hall’s School. A strategic, collaborative and creative leader, the Dean is an advocate for girl-centered education and a passionate steward of the mission and values of the School. The Dean oversees several major areas of the School including wellness, athletics, residential life, advising and discipline. Working closely with students, colleagues, and families, the Dean spearheads the design and implementation of mission-aligned programs related to student leadership and activities, cultivating positive relationships across our community. The Dean of Students reports directly to the Head of School and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Candidates should have a minimum of a Bachelor degree, 5+ years of experience in a school environment, 3+ years of experience leading in an educational organization and a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and experience serving a diverse/global community required. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Head of School and Leadership Team, make strategic, intentional institutional decisions that align with MHS mission, core values, and Strategic Design
  • In partnership with Leadership Team and faculty, develop and implement programs, policies and traditions that promote a joyful and connected experience for all students
  • Oversee the Advisor Program and work closely with advisors to promote student learning, growth, and development
  • Supervise the Director of Athletics and Director of Wellness and oversee programs that support a holistic and innovative approach to student physical, mental and emotional health and well-being
  • Together with Class Coordinators and Deans, design student orientation and leadership trainings to promote competencies of vision, voice, interpersonal efficacy and gumption
  • Develop and implement a mission-aligned residential life program to provide a safe and positive communal living experience for boarding students
