JOB SUMMARY

Assistant Teachers support Lead Teachers in the Early Childhood classrooms and work closely under the direction of the Lead Teacher. Assistant Teachers attend regular (weekly) program level meetings and classroom team meetings. S/He reports directly to the Early Childhood Director who observes, advises, and serves as a mentor to all faculty in Montessori methodology, curriculum management, classroom schedules, record keeping, and the classroom environment. The Assistant Teacher, along with the Lead Teacher, is responsible for the daily oversight of their students’ classroom experience, as well as partnerships with parents, professional and personal growth, collegiality, and administrative duties.

HOURS

In classroom 7:45 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Additional hours 12:00–3:45 p.m. covering lunch/rest time for P/3 students with a 45 min lunch break.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS degree strongly preferred
  • Experience working with children of this age group in various settings
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty to enhance curriculum and community
  • Commitment to professional development and growth
  • Understanding and interest in developmental stages of children within a multi-age environment
  • Computer skills: proficient or willing to participate in technology training
