Position Overview:
Wellan Montessori School is seeking an experienced Educational Technology Specialist for the 2021-2022 school year. This is a full time position beginning in late August 2021. The Educational Technology Specialist is responsible for teaching computer skills, information technology, and digital citizenship to K-8 students. The Educational Technology Specialist will plan and implement curriculum and activities, and will work with classroom teachers to assist in the integration of Technology Literacy Standards into classroom curricula.

The Educational Technology Specialist must excel at preparation of the relevant curriculum, preparing the environment, and taking responsibility for creating and maintaining an orderly, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children in classes.  In addition to classes taught during the school day, the Educational Technology Specialist also serves as (1) a coordinator of several after school technology programs and (2) as a member of Wellan’s Technology Support Team, providing tech support services throughout the school. 

The successful candidate will be well organized and flexible; have strong classroom management and problem solving skills; have strong verbal and written communication skills; and be able to collaborate well with other educators in our community. This person will have a passion for consuming, sharing, and creating content in all different forms—books, podcasts, articles, etc.—and must be able to model this excitement for both students and faculty. Due to the potential for classroom and/or school building closure(s) during the 2021-2022 school year, the successful candidate should also be prepared to transition to a distance learning program model if needed.

Position Details:

  • Full Time 40 hours per week, with attendance at staff meetings and occasional night and weekend events outside of regular hours required.
  • Regular Hours:  Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or beyond in related field.
  • Experience teaching children ages 6-14 (Grades 1–8).
  • Experience working in a Montessori environment preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 professional references required.
