Friends Academy seeks an optimistic, creative, and entrepreneurial Director of Enrollment for the 2020-21 school year. Supporting a progressive academic program and our commitment to diversity, the Director of Enrollment is a member of the senior administrative team and reports to the Head of School. The Director facilitates all aspects of enrollment management at Friends Academy.

The Director plays a vital role in the Friends Academy community and will be expected to lead the school’s enrollment management infrastructure. The Director will conduct research and implement strategies to ensure that the School achieves the enrollment goals set in conjunction with the Board of Trustees and the Head of School. As one of the school’s most visible spokespersons, the Director of Enrollment represents Friends Academy to all constituents, which includes students, parents, alumni, faculty, and administration.

Duties and Responsibilities:      

  • Provides leadership and vision in enrollment management, which includes planning, admission, marketing, and recruitment and directs the process of attracting and enrolling students at Friends Academy.
  • Continues efforts to broaden the diversity of all kinds at the school, including socio-economic and racial and ethnic diversity, through outreach to families and working with community-based programs.
  • Networks actively through current parents to identify and follow up with prospects.
  • Proactively communicates with prospective families, answering questions, responding to inquiries, and setting up school visits.
  • Works closely with the Director of Communications to create and execute marketing strategies.
  • Oversees all on-campus visitation programs-including student and parent visits, and new student orientation programs.
  • Shares administration of the school’s Tuition Assistance program and budget in conjunction with the CFO and Head of School.
  • Attends weekly faculty meetings and weekly administrative meetings. Participates with the Head and administrative team in collaborative efforts.
  • Directs Friends Academy’s outreach recruitment plan. Becomes familiar with the academic program and curriculum in order to communicate with prospective families.
  • Represents the Admission Office and school at events, which includes coordinating on- and off-campus functions, including campus tours, Parent Information Evenings, in-home gatherings etc. designed for prospective parents and students.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with preschools, elementary schools, and community-based organizations and counselors.
  • Works closely with the Director of Development in coordinating the Admission Office volunteer network.
  • Coordinates the application review process, and assigns reading and committee assignments as needed.
  • Works with the registrar in the keeping of admission and enrolled student records.
  • Attends Board of Trustee meetings when appropriate, is involved in strategic planning and keeping the Board fully apprised of the school’s enrollment efforts, including providing admission data and trend analysis to the Board.
  • Is an integral leader for the school community and participates fully in daily community life of the school. Extends beyond the responsibilities of a job description when the need arises and assists the Head of School with all other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters degree preferred.

  • Significant admissions or closely related experience in an independent school.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and spoken.
  • Proficiency with admission software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google applications.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and use discretion with confidential information.
