Cambridge Friends School has an opening for a full-time Pre-K/Kindergarten Co-teacher (to work between two classrooms, each staffed with a full-time teacher), beginning in September 2020.

The Cambridge Friends School dedicated to providing an outstanding education guided by Quaker principles. We engage students in meaningful academic learning within a caring community strongly committed to social justice. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelors degree in early childhood education, (Masters preferred), prior early childhood teaching experience, and a passion for the learning and development of four to six year olds. The CFS PreK/Kindergarten program is play based. The successful candidate will carry out all responsibilities necessary to teach in our small, inclusive school, including but not limited to: documenting curriculum, developing lesson plans, instructing, managing the classroom/behavior, communicating with families, and participating richly and fully in the life of the School.

Job Requirements


  • Experienced in teaching in an early childhood classroom with specific experience teaching Pre-K/Kindergarten
  • Familiar with a progressive approach to early childhood education; practical experience using that model in a classroom and knowledge of child development and its relationship to curriculum creation
  • Knowledgeable about the developmental needs of four- to- six year-olds
  • Committed to collaborating and working as part of a co-teaching team and a larger early childhood team
  • Able to communicate effectively with parents, both in person and in writing
  • Experienced or trained in the use of specific curricular programs preferred: Wilson’s Fundations® and TERC: Investigations Math Program
  • Familiar with Responsive Classroom practices
  • In possession of strong writing skills, physical stamina, patience, and integrity
  • Committed to the creation and sustainability of an inclusive, antiracist, antihomophobic, equitable learning environment for all students.
