Lincoln Academy, in Newcastle, Maine seeks a part time French Language teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. Founded in 1801, Lincoln Academy is an independent Town Academy deeply rooted in the midcoast communities of central Lincoln County. For 220 years we have served as an educational center for students from more than 15 towns in the region. In addition to our local students, the school enrolls up to 50 international and domestic boarding students. This results in an exciting mix of students, and the school is committed to providing an outstanding education for each of them.

We seek a dynamic World Languages teacher who is fluent and passionate, who can teach two sections of French classes. Specific teaching assignments may change from year to year. We value someone who is familiar with current trends in World Languages methodology.  We seek a teacher who is willing to collaborate with members of the department and able to work independently. The World Languages program is proficiency-based and aligned with the ACTFL World Readiness Standards.  At Lincoln Academy, we are committed to offering “real life” language experiences in the classroom as well as abroad, and we offer an immersion study abroad experience every other year in both Spanish and French. The majority of our students begin their language study in high school without having experienced language instruction at the elementary level.

Experience with second language learners is helpful as we have an international student population. Evidence of positive, professional relationships with students, colleagues, and parents and a commitment to continued professional development are important qualifications.

Lincoln Academy is an equal opportunity employer.
