Open Position: Educational Support Associate
Start Date: January 2021
BB&N is seeking a team of Educational Support Associates (ESAs) to provide a wide range of support to faculty during the COVID pandemic. Specifically, ESAs will assist faculty in organizing and facilitating virtual and on-campus classes and activities.
As an ESA, you will have an opportunity to observe BB&N’s best teaching practices and learn from experienced faculty and administrators. Through participation in cohort and mentoring meetings, there will be ample opportunities to gain the exposure necessary to evaluate a career in teaching and learning. This opportunity offers a Monday - Friday experience from January 4th, 2021 through June 11th, 2021.
This position is meant for individuals who are either already slightly experienced in the educational world and are looking for more practical experience or are looking to explore making education a possible career. This role will provide first-hand experience in the practice of independent school education.
The BB&N ESA will observe classes, assist on-site with the implementation of student projects, and take increasing responsibility for facilitating and delivering lessons.
The BB&N ESA will receive mentoring and cohort support, take part in orientation training and participate in seminars designed to support their growth as educators. Compensation is $560 per week for approximately 28 hours a week, inclusive of holidays, in accordance with the BB&N school calendar. This role is not eligible for health insurance.
The Educational Support Associate will:
- Support students to engage in on-line and/or on-campus teaching in partnership with the teacher-mentor.
- Provide coaching to students in partnership with the teacher-mentor (as appropriate).
- Participate in and support special (live and/or virtual) events/activities.
- Attend cohort and mentor meetings/seminars as scheduled.
- Help to manage virtual classroom transitions, including supporting students who cannot be physically present.
- Attend and support special classes as needed.
- Attend Faculty Professional Development Days.
- Support the tone for routines and behavioral expectations set by the mentoring teachers.
- Maintain open two-way communication with mentor teachers and administrators.
- Perform arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other support duties as assigned.

- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment
- GED, High School Diploma, or College Degree
- Interest in education as a career track and/or experience in teaching/learning and looking for additional practical experience
- Ability to collaborate effectively with peers, coworkers, and mentors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with Google Apps (G-Suite) a plus
