LCA seeks a strategic and collaborative Chief Financial Officer to provide leadership and management of the school’s finances, human resources, plant/facilities, and non-academic operations. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reports directly to and serves as a strategic partner to the Head of School, is a member of the Executive Team, and works closely with the Board of Trustees. The CFO ensures strategic implementation of long-term strategic goals, providing strong, innovative leadership. Responsible for multiple departments with 4-6 direct reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Planning and Organizational Management

  • While the Board of Trustees is responsible for developing the strategic plan, the CFO plays a critical support role in formulating the strategic plan.
  • Responsible for achieving strategic goals related to Finance and Operations; will also play a key support role for other priorities.
  • Work closely with Head of School to effectively report to the Board of Trustees on the state of the school and progress toward the strategic plan. Develop metrics to assess organizational performance.

Financial Management

  • Develop a multi-year financial plan in conjunction with the organizational strategic plan.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget; report to the Head of School, Finance Committee and Board of Trustees on the results of the present and future operations of the school.
  • Maintain effective relationship with bank; oversee management of school assets and debt servicing.
  • Serve as liaison to the Board of Trustees for the Finance, Audit and Investment Committees.
  • Direct the day-to-day operation of the Business Office including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accounting functions, financial controls.
  • Oversee and facilitate external financial statement audit.
  • Oversee distribution of Financial Aid to ensure enrollment and tuition goals are realized. 

Human Resources

  • Oversee the performance review process for non-teaching personnel.
  • With the Executive Team, determine annual salaries and benefits for employees in the context of budget preparation.
  • Ensure the Employee Handbook remains up to date and in compliance with current regulations.
  • Ensure payroll processes, including payment and record keeping, are accurate and efficient.
  • Manage all HR-related legal issues; primary point-person with the school’s attorneys. 

School Operations (2 campuses)

  • Lead the Facilities and Operations team to ensure maintenance, repairs, and capital improvements/upgrades are effectively implemented and within fiscal constraints.
  • Develop & manage a long-term capital needs and improvement schedule.
  • Manage all legal matters, working closely with the school’s attorneys.

10+ years of progressively responsible experience plus a relevant degree in business or accounting is required. MBA preferred. Candidates must be committed to the Academy’s Statement of Faith and Standards for Christian Living.
