Fay School seeks a dynamic, flexible, and creative individual who loves teaching and can effectively support students in grades seven through nine to access the curriculum in academic classes. This individual should be well versed in working with middle school students with varied learning styles. This teacher is responsible for providing individual and small group support to students with documented learning differences. Building on Fay’s existing programs, this teacher will collaborate with other learning specialists and faculty and reports to the Head of Upper School and Director of Learning Services. This is a full-time long-term substitute position, September – December 2020. Campus housing may be available.
A bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience working with children at the middle school level. Fay School values teachers who believe in differentiated and developmentally-aligned approaches to teaching and learning, understand the importance of cultural competency, and are attuned to the social and emotional growth of young students. - Providing academic support to students who have learning challenges
- Attending team level meetings to share progress, update teachers, and share strategies/accommodations
- Coordinating academic assignments with faculty for students
- Adhering to the learning profiles on file
- Providing support within classrooms and facilitating differentiated instruction
- Attending team and department meetings and major school events as required
