Milton Academy, Milton, MA

Accredited by NEASC

Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent, coeducational, national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K–12 on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston.

The Lower School is a preeminent day school with 162 day students in grades K-5 and is a unique and joyful place. With supportive peers and impassioned teachers, our students explore and initiate, collaborate, and take risks together. Our teachers know each child well, and we work together to nurture unique talents, passions, and aspirations.

Milton Academy currently seeks an elementary educator with teaching experience and a unique background to join a collaborative classroom team and a supportive student-centered community. In addition to outstanding teaching ability, we seek a teacher who is inquisitive, self-directed, team-oriented, and dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The person in this role will support the lead teacher in a small (11 students) upper elementary class during math and literacy classes, as well as take the lead during interdisciplinary projects (often student-driven) that might include social studies, science, the arts, languages, physical education, or computer science, depending on the interests of the students. Candidates are encouraged to apply whether they have core-subject classroom teaching experience, experience as a specialist (art, music, drama, PE, science, library, Spanish, technology, etc.), or non-traditional teaching experience. Because of the unusual nature of this year, candidates would expect to be involved with students in person, both outside on our large campus (teaching class and at recess) and inside classrooms, as well as possibly working with students remotely at home. This is a full-time, one-year position for the 2020-21 school year.
