Providence Country Day School, East Providence, RI

Accredited by NEASC

Providence Country Day School, an independent school serving students in grades 6-12, seeks a dynamic Middle School educator who is versatile, but specifically skilled in two-dimensional design, drawing, painting, and basic sculptural practices and who has a firm knowledge of art history.

PCD’s Arts Department encourages students to engage in the Arts with confidence and curiosity. Our vision and practices support a growth mindset by teaching students to value mistakes as opportunities for learning. Our philosophy empowers students to understand the value of the Arts in everyone’s life, inspires independent and collaborative problem-solving, and makes intentional connections to the world. Candidates must have the desire and ability to develop meaningful and productive relationships with motivated students from diverse backgrounds. This teacher should plan to be part of a collaborative visual and performing arts team; and an integral component of students’ lives, in the classroom, as a department member, and as an advisor.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree (or higher). PCD students use technology in a variety of ways in every discipline. Use of our learning management system, participating in the advisory program, and committing to on-going education and innovation are required professional standards. Candidates who possess a firm knowledge of and teaching experience in art history would be highly desirable. In addition to teaching and advising, PCD faculty impact the lives of students through club leadership, coaching, or other extra curricular opportunities.

Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, a minimum of three artistic pieces, and three references to Susan Anderson, Assistant to the Head of School, at andersons@providencecountryday.org.
