Position Summary

The Chestnut Hill School seeks a part-time (50%) school counselor beginning in August 2019. With a focus on promoting social, emotional, and psychological wellness at the school, the school counselor works in close partnership with with families and staff to support students. The school counselor provides short-term individual and small-group counseling to students as needed, conducts classroom and student observations, reviews outside evaluations and develops corresponding action plans, serves as a member of the school’s Support Team, maintains a current database of outside mental health service providers, assists parents with appropriate mental health referrals, coordinates with outside providers, and serves as a resource to the entire CHS community.


  • Deep expertise in mental health and development of children ages 3-12
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Psychology, Social Work, School Counseling, or related field
  • Current Massachusetts state license in mental health services
  • Excellent assessment skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, administrators, and outside providers
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
