Reporting to the Head of School, the Development Officer will lead and manage all fundraising programs at the school, including the Annual Fund, major gifts, and special events. The school seeks candidates with proven experience in major gift work and direct personal engagement and interaction with donors and volunteers. The successful candidate will have the skills necessary to balance internal office-based responsibilities with a commitment to devoting time to out-of-office work. A self-directed, motivated candidate with strong oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work well with others are essential attributes. The ideal candidate has excellent organizational skills, an ability to follow through, and a good sense of humor. In addition, we seek enthusiastic and collaborative candidates who have experience working with Raiser’s Edge, as well as candidates who have experience working in development in schools and or non-profit. We seek honest, dedicated candidates who have integrity and are familiar with and the ability to implement best practices at all levels.
- • Work with and advise the Head of School and Board of Trustees on matters related to all areas of institutional advancement.
- Work closely with the Head of School and volunteers for annual fund appeals and event planning
- Supervise and oversee Development Office functions including: gift receipting, report preparation, thank you letters, alumni, etc.
- Identify, cultivate, and/or solicit prospects for major gifts individually or as part of a team with the Head of School, member of the Board of Trustees, and/or another volunteer.
- Coordinate publications and communications to communicate effectively with the school’s various constituencies.
- Prepare the annual report
- Be an active and visible member of the Cambridge Montessori School community
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of five years experience in development, conducting major fundraising activities •Experience working in an independent school environment preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse constituents
- Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of fundraising software
- Experience with Montessori education valued
