Job Description: 10-month, part-time, faculty position, dorm parent

The Cambridge School of Weston seeks a part-time History teacher to teach a variety of History courses for grades 9 through 12, as well as participating in the community beyond the classroom.  All members of the department teach U.S. history and therefore, our ideal candidate has a background (through education and teaching experience) in United States history. Additionally, strong candidates will be able to teach a range of other courses in world history and Introduction to Psychology. We appreciate candidates who are excited to develop and work with new progressive curricula and classroom practices.  Successful candidates will have strong interpersonal skills; value progressive, student-centered education; demonstrate an ability to make strong connections with students; and will be passionate about teaching creative students with a variety of learning styles in a boarding and day school environment.

Specific Responsibilities for This Position Include:


  • Teach nine blocks (about 75-to-90 minutes) of class over the school year; there are six modules meaning there will be one to two courses per module. Courses include Introduction to Psychology, U.S. Constitution, United States History Overview, an in-depth course on the U.S. History of Education, Native American History, and World Religions
  • Cooperate in designing curriculum
  • Active participation in all department and all faculty-staff meetings, as well as occasional professional development activities and meetings


  • Dorm parent responsibilities; housing included
  • Contribute to the community outside the classroom, such as coaching or leading other engagement activities for students.
  • Advise 5-8 students
  • Participate in our co-curricular PACE programming. Through the PACE program (Promoting Awareness and Community Engagement), we dedicate time during the mod and the year for experiential classes, events, and activities that prepare our students to meet the demands of an increasingly complex and diverse world. A four-year co-curriculum, PACE has been designed to ensure that all CSW students develop self-awareness, social consciousness, healthy living habits, life skills, and leadership that will serve them into adulthood.

  • Participate in up to two alliance/affinity groups, student clubs or committees. 

  • Chaperone two-weekend activities each year to support our boarding students


Skills and Qualifications*:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent required; Masters degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience preferred.
  • Background in U.S. history required; background in any other areas of history expertise welcome
  • Ease with primary and secondary (visual) source material
  • Comfort and passion for hands-on coursework and assessment
  • Ability to teach formal research and writing
  • At least two years teaching experience preferred
  • Facility with current and emerging technology in the classroom
  • Comfort with teaching in an on-campus, hybrid, and fully-remote learning environments
