Experienced elementary school teacher needed to lead our sixth grade through the first two months of the 2021 calendar year. There is substantial documentation of the curriculum and objectives, in addition to well-tested materials used by the children to support their daily scholastic growth.  A Teaching Fellow assists with supervision, instruction, and other responsibilities of a classroom teacher, and they receive coaching and feedback about teaching from the Head Teacher. 

The person taking this position will be supported and guided by the Director of Academics and will be joining a supportive and collaborative community of professionals. We are looking for someone who is experienced with this age group; with the workshop model of teaching; with the teaching of math using a variety of approaches to supplement our Saxon curriculum; and with classroom management techniques that maintain high behavioral and scholastic work expectations.

The sixth grade class consists of 14 students, and the school day runs from 7:30am-3:15pm.  


The Learning Project seeks candidates with several years of classroom teaching experience and, preferably, with their Master’s degree in education. The school actively seeks teachers who are experienced with children from diverse backgrounds and who are familiar with the work involved in building communities around the ideas of multiculturalism, diversity, equity and social justice, protecting the planet, nonviolence and peace.

Online teaching experience is a plus, as we are in a 50/50 teaching model, with 7 sixth graders in person and 7 learning from home each week.
