Position Overview:

 

The Fessenden School is seeking a motivated self-starter to assist the accounting operations in the Business Office of the School.  Primary focus will be Payroll and Accounts Receivable, but will also include all aspects of the business office, as assigned.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Payroll
    • Process multiple monthly payrolls in Paycom
    • Communicate with various departments to receive and streamline payroll information acquisition
    • Train new employees on Fessenden’s payroll system (Paycom).
    • Handling payroll questions and completing any other tasks necessary for monitoring and overseeing a company's payroll process
    • Continue to implement processes and/or technologies to improve the payroll function
  • Billing/Accounts Receivable
    •  Maintain student & day care billing accounts, currently in SmartTuition & Blackbaud’s Financial Edge
    • Use technology to streamline billing
    • Follow up with families that are in arrears
    • Payment processing & bank deposits
  • Business Office Support Functions
    • Credit card reconciliations
    • Bookstore support; inventory, integration, sales
    • Occasional accounts payable & payroll support
    • Journal entries
    • Support community in accounting inquiries
  • Other support to CFO & Controller, as needed
  • Able to work in a diverse environment, as our staff, student body and their families come from multiple countries and cultures.
  • Position requires ability to perform with minimal supervision
  • Other duties as needed

   Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years related experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, multilingual is a plus
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to problem solve
  • Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and customer service
  • Ability to work independently and make routine decisions related to Accounts Receivables
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to establish and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong computer and technical skills, including Excel, software proficiency and data analysis are necessary

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
  • Prior experience with billing and accounts receivables
  • Prior Payroll experience
