Wellan Montessori School is seeking an experienced Primary Teacher (ages 3-6) to cover a maternity leave beginning in November 2020 through Spring 2021 (with the potential to extend). This position will oversee the fully remote instruction of a small cohort of Primary students. Responsibilities include planning and implementing curriculum, developing and distributing learning materials, communicating with families, and collaborating with on-site classroom teachers for joint virtual lessons. The Remote Primary teacher must be comfortable using and managing videoconferencing platforms, and should be confident in their ability to learn new technology and systems quickly. While this position is currently predominantly remote, some in-school prep is required. Local candidates are preferred.
The successful candidate will be patient, well organized, flexible, professional, and dependable; have strong classroom management skills; have strong verbal and written communication skills; and be able to collaborate with other educators in our community. Experience working in a Montessori classroom is required, with certification for ages 3-6 preferred. Experience teaching remotely is highly preferred.
- Remote Position – reliable laptop, internet connection, and personal workspace required.
- Full Time – 40 hours per week, with attendance at virtual staff meetings and occasional night and weekend events outside of regular hours required.
- Regular Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm Eastern Standard Time.
- Bachelor’s Degree or beyond in related field.
- EEC Preschool Lead Teacher certified (or equivalent).
- Montessori certification for ages 3-6 or in training / willingness to undertake training.
- Experience working in a Montessori classroom.
- Experience teaching remotely.
