SAT/ACT Instructor Position: Job Description
Saint Joseph Prep, a Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory high school sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, seeks an exceptional educator to join our staff as a part-time SAT/ACT instructor. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who specializes in standardized test prep but who usually schedules clients for the afternoon and evening. Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred and a passion for learning is essential.
The successful candidate has a proven record of preparing students for success on the SAT and ACT exams and the ability to actively engage students with a thoughtful, creative mix of dynamic, rigorous, and student-centered instruction. Strong interpersonal skills, along with excellent oral and written communication skills, are critical.
The start date of the SAT/ACT Prep Course is set for Wednesday, January 22, 2020; this is the first day of the Third Quarter. The end date of the course is Wednesday, June 4; this is the last day of the Fourth Quarter. However, for the right candidate, we would be open to making adjustments in the timing of the course.
Our school day runs from 7:45am – 2:30pm. However, candidates would not be required to be on site for the full duration of the day, only for those times when the SAT/ACT prep classes are in session. This course is required for all 11th graders and is focused on preparing our juniors to maximize their scores on the spring SAT and ACT exams. Our average class size at SJP is approximately 19 and we expect to have 3-4 sections of this course next year.
