Stoneleigh-Burnham School, an independent boarding and day school for girls in grades 7-12 in Greenfield, Massachusetts, is seeking residential camp staff for our summer 2021 programs. Our summer programs serve campers ages 8 to 18, for 5 weeks starting June 20, 2021 to July 24, 2021.

Located in the Connecticut River Pioneer Valley, a short drive from the Five College Consortium (UMass Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Hampshire and Amherst College), Stoneleigh-Burnham attracts students from the local area and around the world. Central to our mission the summer programs at SBS aim to provide campers opportunities to set goals, challenge themselves, and discover their individual skills and abilities in a diverse, safe, and welcoming environment. Reporting to the Director of Summer Programs and working directly with campers and other summer employees, the Residential Counselor will assume the following primary responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as an integral member of the residential summer camp program team
  • Assist and participate in the following tasks: supervision of campers, administering behavior protocol as directed, administering all basic medical protocol as directed
  •  Assist in the care, cleanliness, and security of the facility used by campers during the program
  • Monitor the safety of campers and ensure all aspects of the program meet safety protocols, including but not limited to COVID precautions as set forth by the Stoneleigh-Burnham School
  • Communicate all pertinent issues affecting the programs to the Director of Summer Programs (i.e. staff/client/parent/ transportation issues and concerns, etc.), in a timely manner
  •  Participate in all required trainings and certifications in compliance with the organization’s standards
  • Communicate clearly, honestly and respectfully with staff, campers, parents and volunteers
  • Create a nurturing, positive and professional environment while promoting program policies and procedures amongst staff, volunteers and community
  • Plan and implement activities for evening and residential campers
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Desire to work with and mentor young people
  • Must pass a CORI/SORI background check, have a clean criminal record, and be at least 18 years of age
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification, or willing to be certified
  • Must commit to contracted dates from June 17-July 25, 2021 and must live on-site in provided housing
  •  Ability to be flexible, creative and adaptable to situations
  •  Demonstrated history of responsibility, dependability, and maturity
  •  Commitment to a positive, fun and team-oriented working environment
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

Salary: $700 per week, includes room and board
