Job Description: Acera is seeking a Part Time Temporary Science Education Specialist to lead an outdoor education, project based “Winter Garden” class for a group of 12 highly engaged 6th grade students. The class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings onsite at Acera from 8:45am - 10:45am (with an expectation to be on site from 8am - 11am). There is an outlined scope for the class, but the right candidate can shape and evolve it to fit the needs of the class. There will be a requirement to write comments in each student’s narrative report card. This is a short term opportunity (available due to paternity leave). Skills and Requirements:
• 3+ years of teaching experience
• Excellent organization, follow through, documentation, and project management skills in written and verbal formats
• Ability to facilitate and support student groups to progress through projects, maintain a culture of mutual respect, and make plans and next steps to learn and evolve
• Experience with elementary and/or middle school learners
• A bring-it-on, can-do, let’s make it happen, whatever it takes attitude!
• A kind heart, a thoughtful mind, and a generous spirit
• Flexibility to step in, help and do whatever is needed to support our programs, our teachers, our parents, and our students
