Position Summary:

Brimmer and May is seeking a committed, enthusiastic, and experienced tutor to provide individualized support to students with diverse learning profiles in grades K-5.  Successful candidates should have experience providing direct instruction in writing, decoding, spelling, fluency, reading comprehension, and study skills.  Ideally, candidates should also have training and experience working with students who have language-based learning disabilities, as well as experience teaching students with executive functioning vulnerabilities and attentional challenges.  The candidate needs to be able to work collaboratively with teachers and communicate effectively with parents about student needs and progress, under the guidance of the Director of Lower School Academic Services.  A master’s degree in special education and/or certification in Orton-Gillingham (or Orton-Gillingham based approach) is preferred.  In most cases, tutoring sessions would take place virtually before or after school (e.g., prior to 8 a.m. or after 3 p.m.).
