 Job Summary:

BB&N is seeking a part-time Upper School Theater Designer and Production Coordinator.  Responsibilities include:

Design

  • Scenery and set design: looking for versatile and innovative approaches to scenic design as well traditional methods and techniques. Knowledge and experience with CADs is useful.
  • Lighting: includes creating lighting plots, hookup sheets, magic sheets, cues and board programming for school productions.
  • Sound design for theater productions. May also include collaborating on film and music production courses.
  • Provide process instruction and design participation for interested students.

Technical Direction

  • Maintain technical tools, equipment and storage for production.
  • Maintain technical facilities including scene shop, theatre, storage and associated areas.
  • Train students in the operation of shop tools and equipment.
  • Train students in technical drawing interpretation, construction techniques, running crew and board operations.
  • Teach and maintain shop and production safety.
  • Maintain technical production budget.

Production Coordinator

  • Assist in planning and coordinating meetings with all members of the production.
  • Assist BB&N faculty and staff hosting events in the Lindberg-Serries Theater.
  • Coordinate the end of productions with company and crew.

The Theater Designer and Production Coordinator collaborates closely with colleagues in the Fine Arts Department and attends regular department and faculty meetings. Additional responsibilities will vary according to current program need and new initiatives.
