About The Equity Playbook and This Workshop

This opportunity will marry theory and practice. First, we will delve into understanding the foundations of school culture. After building a shared base of knowledge and understanding of the implicit and explicit structures that characterize our schools, we will offer practical ways for various stakeholders to take action in service of creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive school. This includes creating structures and examining policies within the classroom all the way up to the school leadership table.

Through your experience in this AISNE Workshop, you will:

  • Build shared knowledge and understanding of the implicit and explicit bias structures that characterize independent schools
  • Learn practical ways to take action in service of creating more diverse, equitable, and inclusive schools
  • Examine policies and begin creating new conceptual structures for your school

This workshop includes the opportunity to connect and collaborate with peers across AISNE's membership as well as across AIMS's Maryland and Washington, D.C. member community.

About Our Facilitators

It all started with brunch. Six Black women diversity practitioners from the greater Baltimore area recognized the magic in one another and sought refuge, restoration, and rejuvenation through one another's company.

The spark was present from the very beginning, and it was clear that our energy was meant to exist beyond the confines of omelettes and crab cakes.

Our genius worked together to create a manifestation of love: The Wells Collective. Among us, we have public and private school educators, researchers, a former head of school, a former director of admissions, a psychologist, a counselor, and plenty of magic to sprinkle around.

We are excited to share our joy with you as we work toward collective liberation.
