Returning by popular demand, AISNE's Beginning Administrators' Workshop is geared towards administrators, including new department chairs, in their first five years of practice (0-5 years).

This full-day workshop helps attendees identify the skills, values, attitudes and behaviors that matter most in independent school administration. It offers resources and guidance to help beginning practitioners develop essential skills and it provides a safe environment for those in their early years of an administrator role.

Workshop Leader: Sally Mixsell, Head, Stoneleigh-Burnham School

After a career as a teacher and administrator in both boarding and day schools, Sally moved on to help create and manage the summer intensive master’s program at the Klingenstein Center for Independent School Education at Teachers College, Columbia.

Several years before taking the helm at Stoneleigh-Burnham, Sally was a founding partner in eduINNOVATIONS, LLC, an educational consulting firm working with private schools to build leadership capacity and develop institutional programming. While consulting, Sally and her partner, Jean Lamont, ran the Beginning Administrators Institute each summer.

Sally retires from Stoneleigh-Burnham this June, after a decade as Head of School.
